Dissonance Dance Theatre Ballet Audition

Dissonance Dance Theatre is seeking to hire full-time classically – trained dancers with a desire for contemporary form for its 2024 – 2025 season. We are seeking female dancers with exceptional pointe work, leg extension, performance, and partnering ability. Additionally, male dancers must have athletic physiques with partnering skills. Our artists are an integral and valued part of our community. Dancers receive a comprehensive benefits package including 37 weeks of paid work per season, domestic touring, dance medicine, physical therapy, housing assistance (limited), pointe shoe allotments, and a photographic headshot. Selected international dancers receive O-1 VISA paperwork.

DDT is the Resident Ballet of Ngoma Center for Dance. Named “One of the 11 small-but-mighty dance companies outside of LA and NYC” by Dance Spirit Magazine, Dissonance Dance Theatre is a Washington, DC-based professional dance company founded in 2007 by Shawn Short. Since its inception, Dissonance Dance Theatre has performed for local and national audiences on the east coast and in the mid-west states. Evoking emotional experiences in the audiences we touch, Dissonance’s cutting-edge repertoire features works that are socially and visually appealing to audiences while remaining true to its mission; challenging audience’s assumptions about the human experience through dance.

DDT dance artists are an integral and valued part of our community. We believe in artist development and look for dancer artists who love to sweat, laugh, and use dance as a craft.
