Audition for Young Dancers

The National Youth Ballet (Intendant: John Neumeier, Artistic Director: Kevin Haigen) is searching for new dancers for the seasons 2022/2023 starting from August 2022.

Applying dancers should be highly interested in improving their artistic personality and stylistic versatility with professional training but also by creating their own choreographies.

The dancers should be between 18 and 21 years old and need to have completed their professional education with classical as well as modern dance technique.

Germany’s first ever National Youth Ballet was founded at the beginning of the 2011/2012 theatre season. The company consists of eight professional dancers and works at the Ballettzentrum Hamburg – John Neumeier. With its own repertoire comprising mainly works by young choreographers, the group predominantly dances in new spaces – not necessarily theatres, but schools, museums, nursing homes and even prisons; spaces in which dance does not usually attract much interest. The National Youth Ballet aims to demonstrate that dance has a social relevance creating a spirit of community and a sense of unity, focusing especially on a young audience. The company tours both, nationally and internationally, hoping to bring people of different backgrounds and characters together through movement and creativity
