The Finnish National Ballet Audition (Amsterdam)

The Finnish National Ballet will be holding an international audition on Sunday, 17th of March 2024 in Amsterdam.

A preselection based on the video material sent by the applicants will be carried out. Those selected to join the audition in Amsterdam will be informed on Wednesday, 21st of February 2024 about the exact place and time of the audition.

The audition in Amsterdam will consist of two rounds. The first round will be the class. After the class, those chosen for the second round will be required to perform the imposed variation (find links below). No changes to the steps in the variations will be accepted. However, the applicants can choose whether to make their variations to right or to the left. No costumes nor make up are required to perform the variations.

Participants must be 18 years of age by the time of the audition.

Requirements:

  • Excellent classical ballet technique
  • Proficiency in contemporary dance.
  • Must be 18 years of age by the time of the audition

Required documents:

  • CV
  • VideoThe video has to be recent and not older than 5 months.Recordings from stage performances or rehearsals will not be accepted.
    All exercises for ladies must be on pointe.

    • Tendus /Pirouettes en de dehors en dedans from 5th
    • Fondus /Pirouettes en dehors/ en dedans from 4th position
    • Grand pirouette exercice
    • Petit Allegro
    • Grand Allegro
    • Tour en l’air (men)
    • 16 fouettes (female) / Tours a la second (men)
    • A classical variation (own choice) and a contemporary solo with training cloths and in a dance studio with working light should be included in the video after the class material.

Videos must be provided as a link (Youtube, Vimeo etc., no password)). Applications with videos that cannot be easily opened will not be taken into account.

  • PhotosCandidates must upload a minimum of two (2) colour photographs with a clear background. Selfies will not be accepted.
    • One headshot photograph
    • One photograph in “Arabesque” in appropriate ballet attire showing a clear line of the dancer. Ladies “Arabesque” on pointe, men on “demi-pointe.
    • One optional photograph

 

Should the candidate fail to provide the required material in the necessary format, entry will not be accepted.
