Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC) is a contemporary dance company founded in 1970 by Yehudit Arnon at Kibbutz Ga’aton in Israel’s Western Galilee. The company is directed by Artistic Director Rami Be’er, whose choreographic style forms the basis of the company’s work. KCDC consists of a main company and KCDC 2, a second company. The dancers, who come from Israel and abroad, live and work at the International Dance Village at Kibbutz Ga’aton, where approximately 120 dancers train and create at any given time. The company performs regularly in Israel and internationally.
KCDC operates training programs at the International Dance Village throughout the year. The Kibbutz Summer Intensive is open to ages 12–30 in programs of varying lengths and includes ballet, contemporary dance, modern dance, choreography, jazz, hip-hop, and Gaga technique. The International Dance Journey Program is a five-month program for ages 18 and older, focusing on contemporary and modern dance, KCDC repertoire, and daily ballet. The Excellence Program serves dancers ages 15–18 from Israel’s northern region. KCDC also offers educational visits for school groups that include technique classes, repertoire training, workshops, and opportunities to observe rehearsals.

Main Company dancers are selected through a rigorous audition process and are known for virtuosity, high-level technique, versatility, and rich movement vocabulary.
The company offers audition-based positions in the Main Company and KCDC 2 for dancers from Israel and abroad. International dancers not residing in Israel may submit a CV, headshot, cover letter, and YouTube video link year-round. The International Dance Journey Program is a 5-month program beginning each February and September. Twelfth-grade students in the Excellence Program aspiring to join the Outstanding Dancer in the IDF program can receive 10 dedicated mentoring sessions with a KCDC dancer.
The curriculum includes contemporary and modern dance, KCDC repertoire, repertoire of the Cullberg Ballet by Mats Ek, daily ballet warm-up, choreography, floorwork, Gaga technique from the Batsheva Dance Company, improvisation, jazz, hip-hop, and classical training. The International Dance Journey Program is heavily focused on contemporary and modern dance and KCDC repertoire. The Excellence Program includes high-level repertoire classes, classical training, and enrichment in various disciplines.
The company performs across Israel and around the world in respected theaters and festivals. The performance schedule includes performances in the North, Center, South, and Abroad. Visiting groups can receive discounted tickets for performances near their location. Students visiting the International Dance Village may observe open rehearsals of the Main Company and KCDC 2.
