The Hungarian National Ballet is a professional classical ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera. Comprising 120 ballet artists, approximately half of whom are foreign citizens, the company presents ballet and gala performances, and participates in the historic theatre’s opera productions. The performances take place primarily in Hungary and occasionally abroad through international tours and guest appearances by its principal dancers.

All applications by classically trained professional male and female dancers are welcome. Following evaluation, those invited to participate in an audition are notified via email.
The company may offer contracts to classically trained professional dancers with outstanding technique and qualities. The candidates must be over 18 years of age at the start of the employment.

The company operates with 120 dancers, including principals, first soloists, soloists, grands sujets, demi-solistes, coryphées, and corps de ballet members.
The Hungarian National Ballet does not at the moment offer internships or similar educational programs.
The Hungarian State Opera’s ballet school, the Hungarian National Ballet Institute is separate from the company. It offers professional training to children aged 4-18 (applications for ages 4-14). It follows the Vaganova method and besides participating in the theatre’s opera and ballet performances, stages its own full-evening ballet productions for the younger audiences.
