Hillingdon Theatre Dance Centre (HTDC) operates across three venues in the West Drayton and Iver Heath areas. Founded in 1966 by Wendy Brackley as the Georgian School of Dancing, the school is now led by Principal Helen White and employs six teaching staff. The school serves approximately 320 students from age 18 months through to adults.
Classes are offered in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, street dance, contemporary, acrobatics, singing, and musical theatre. Ballet instruction follows the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus, with pointe work available for suitable students and vocational grades for exceptionally talented dancers. Tap and modern classes follow Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing syllabi. Acrobatics classes use the Acrobatic Arts program. Jazz, contemporary, street dance, and musical theatre are taught as non-syllabus classes. Adult classes in tap and ballet focus on fitness and confidence building.
Students may take government-recognised examinations, with higher-level qualifications carrying UCAS points. Performance opportunities include local community events, West End theatres, and biannual shows at The Beck Theatre. The school has been involved in 16 professional pantomime seasons and has provided dancers for professional productions at venues including Sadler’s Wells, London Palladium, and Wembley Stadium.
