Theatre Box Performing Arts Academy LTD is a performing arts academy operating in Bexley and Greenwich. Founded and directed by Jade Flannery, the academy offers classes and workshops in Musical Theatre, Drama, Singing, and Variety Dance. Classes serve children aged 5–16 and adults aged 16 and above. The Variety Dance programme teaches Street, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet, and Commercial styles to students in two age groups: 5–10 and 11–16.
The academy operates from three locations: St John’s Community Hall in Erith, The Edward Alderton Theatre in Bexleyheath, and St Paul’s Academy in Abbeywood. Additional programmes include a Youth Theatre Company that meets on Saturdays during term time, an adults choir that rehearses Monday evenings, and Home Education workshops on Monday afternoons. The academy also provides tailored programmes for schools and colleges, including lunchtime and after-school clubs.
Trial classes are available, and no prior experience is required for the adults choir. All classes run during term time. The academy has received recognition as Best Performing Arts Academy in London and South East for 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, Best Independent Business in Bexley 2025, and Bexley’s Business of The Year 2025.

The academy offers Variety Dance classes for ages 5-10 and 11-16, teaching routines in Street, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet, and Commercial styles. Musical Theatre classes include singing, dancing, and acting. Drama classes provide tuition in stage and TV acting. Singing classes focus on breathing and singing techniques.
Children, young people, and adults in Bexley and Greenwich can join the academy’s classes and workshops. Schools and colleges can also access tailored programmes including lunchtime clubs and after-school clubs. Home-educated children can attend weekly workshops.
Children’s classes are for ages 5-16 year olds, with Variety Dance specifically divided into classes for ages 5-10 and 11-16. Adult classes are for ages 16 years and above. No prior experience is necessary to join the adult choir. Trials are available for all classes.
The Youth Theatre Company provides performance opportunities throughout the year. The Adults Choir performs at various events and occasions throughout the year and hosts annual concerts. Musical Theatre and Drama classes include performance components, with students learning from musicals and performing duologues and monologues.
Classes are designed to nurture and develop talents while building long-lasting communication skills and confidence. Musical Theatre focuses on individual and group work. Drama uses scripts and improvised pieces including duologues and monologues. Singing teaches breathing and singing techniques. Variety Dance teaches multiple styles including Street, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet, and Commercial. Youth Theatre Company uses improvisation, monologues, duologues, and scripted pieces. The academy can work to existing school curricula or create tailored programmes.
The Youth Theatre Company offers performance opportunities throughout the year. The Adults Choir performs at various events, occasions, festivals, functions, and annual concerts. Musical Theatre students learn and perform from a collection of musicals and music. Drama students may perform in duologues and monologues.
