Paris Opera

The Paris Opera is a performing arts company based in Paris, France. Founded in 1669, it produces opera, ballet, and symphonic performances. The company operates two main venues in the city: the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille. The organisation consists of the Paris Opera Orchestra, the Paris Opera Chorus, and the Paris Opera Ballet. The company’s programming includes classical and contemporary operas, as well as classical ballets and modern dance pieces. The performing groups present regular seasons in Paris and also travel for international tours.

The institution also runs the Paris Opera Ballet School, which was established in 1713. The school provides vocational dance training for students between the ages of eight and eighteen. Its primary focus is teaching the French method of classical ballet. The curriculum prepares students for professional careers, and many graduates join the Paris Opera Ballet. Alongside classical ballet training, the students take classes in character dance, contemporary dance, music, anatomy, and standard academic school subjects.
