Zurich Opera is a performing arts company based in Zurich, Switzerland. It produces operas, ballets, and musical concerts. The organisation operates with three main groups: a permanent opera ensemble, the Philharmonia Zurich orchestra, and the Zurich Ballet company.
The company presents classical and contemporary works during its regular performance season. The opera ensemble performs pieces from various historical periods. The Zurich Ballet stages classical story ballets as well as modern dance pieces. The orchestra plays the music for these stage productions and gives its own symphony concerts. The company frequently invites guest singers, choreographers, and conductors to perform alongside its resident artists.
The organisation runs the International Opera Studio, a training programme for young adult singers to gain stage experience. It also provides community projects, guided workshops, and family performances for children and youth through its education department.
